A quad fin setup and small wings make sure that your tail will stay under control during a precision tube ride. At 19.75" wide with 15.25" nose and 14" tail, this 9:Fish is recommended for advanced surfers.

West Side Jam 2009 - Press Release

BIGGEST TRIPLE WAKE PARTY OF THE YEAR AT MAXOUT HYDROSPORTS

SINGAPORE, February 16, 2009: WEST SIDE JAM (WSJ) 2009, presented by Maxout Hydrosports, brings what promises to be the wildest weekend long triple wake festival held in Singapore,. Festival-revellers can expect everything from fantastic music; a premier wakeboard, wakeskate, and wakesurf tournament; a convoy of WSJ-appointed partying yachts, as well as festival-exclusive sponsor booths.

The festival, scheduled for 7 and 8 March 2009, will be held at the Raffles Marina along Tuas West Drive. Be prepared to witness the metamorphosis of its super-yacht berth into a seafront stadium where spectators can sun bathe, cheers to beers, and watch the competition all at the same time. The second annual WSJ is expected to draw more than 30 international pro-riders, 70 local competitors, and more than a thousand exhilarated fans over the weekend.

The WSJ 2009 lineup of confirmed party treats include: Singapore’s best-loved “Future Funk- Afro Brazillian” percussion ensemble, the Wicked Aura Batucada, who will be rolling out their signature infectious beats on the top deck of the Oriental Dream yacht. Join this act that has opened for Black Eyed Peas’ 2004 concert and a veteran of Womad festivals in Singapore, Madrid and the UK, at noon sharp (on Sunday) to get your adrenaline pumping. Ryan Lee, Director of Maxout Hydrosports, says, ““We are turning up the (party) volume at this year’s WSJ, so expect wicked skills both on the water as well as behind the (DJ) decks!”

The party continues throughout the day as DJ Owens Suns (Philippines) and DJ Brent Burnts (South Africa) take over the decks from the patio to celebrate more than a decade of boarding. For those who wish to get their feet wet, there are banana boat, speedboat and jet-ski rides by the beach.

Come nightfall, the partying will kick in full force at a vinyl-only playlist party presented by RIGHTCLICKA. “RIGHTCLICKA takes the brand’s spanking new mix crate night PLAYLIST: VINYL ONLY to the poolside at Raffles Marina for an evening of turntables and nothing else. No MP3s no CDs, Just pure 33s and 45s,” says Paul Tan, RIGHTCLICKA. The hot tub and spectacular sea view coupled with the glorious west-side sunsets are FREE OF CHARGE till late. Interested parties are advised to get on the event guestlists.

For those seeking the thrill of a power-charged competition up close, catching the limelight will be the International Triple Wake Competition that showcases a skill-challenging obstacle-laden pass. Watch regional and international pro-riders compete for the crown in the Wakeboarding Men’s Open category. Top picks include United States pro-rider AJ Racinelli, as well as Thailand’s renowned riders Aye Tatsanai and Padiwat Jaemjan. Other categories include Wakeskating and Wakesurfing, which will also see competitors vying for generous cash and product prizes.

“West Side Jam 2009 will be a two-day fun-filled weekender event that will showcase a gigantic 70 foot Funbox that cost $15,000 to construct. We are stoked to be able to elevate our signature Maxout events to the successful and challenging level our supporters have come to recognize us for,” said Ryan Lee, “Another program not to be missed will definitely be the FishHead Bikini Contest, as it is certain to get temperatures rising.” Catch these sexy ladies in a catwalk showdown on the yacht Oriental Dream, as they compete for the top prize of $500 and product prizes.

With such impressive lineups of both party and triple wake action, organiser Maxout Hydrosports and its sponsors expect to shake things up this March at Raffles Marina.

Competitors registration and indemnity forms for the triple wake tournament, as well as bikini contestant registration forms are now available online. Registrations closes 1 March 2009.
